In the Quick Draft, the player sees both the Bleed Dry and the rare for p1p1 and takes the rare. Then the seat to the left took the rare p1p2. In your example above, let’s say that the original Premier Drafter took a Bleed Dry over the rare for p1p1. I didn’t explain this in much detail above so I’ll go through it here. But after the first eight picks the cards that get back is going to be different depending on what cards they took in those first 8 packs right? How do you account for me taking as a first pick that in the draft I'm replaying that was the second pick of the person I'm passing to if that second pick is no longer there? Putting someone in the seat of a previous draft can be fun, I recall there's a YouTube channel or somebody who does this with eight Drafting streamers in the same seat on one of the drafting websites.
Set to quick draft after core 19 arena code#
What you're suggesting might work but I need to see the code to see how you would do so in a manner that didn't require bots at some point. Even coming back a day later and continuing if I wanted. I remember being quite pleased to be able to draft with other people but having all the time in the world to make picks. From memory of having done so a year or two ago though it seemed to work early well. I'm not certain of the exact programming behind, it there may be some bot picks in there so that you can get packs too wheel back to you even if the picks you're making haven't been responded to yet by real people.

when you open a pack you'll pick a card or two, I forget which it is in this specific game's case, and then get the pack you pick from will be recorded and inserted as the next thing someone else who is just started to draft will pull. So I know a game like Eternal has a set up where you're drafting with real players but not in real time. Please send me a DM if you run a website covering MTGA and would be interested in hosting this article on your site. PS: I'm looking for a permanent home for this article. There's more information on how this new approach would work in the document above. I think this is the best way for WOTC to use Quick Draft to prepare players for Premier Draft, and would save WOTC the hassle of updating the bots for each set. Whenever a player starts a Quick Draft, WOTC would pull up a previous Premier Draft, pick a random seat, and re-run the Premier Draft for that one player. Instead in Quick Draft players should re-play previous Premier Drafts.

Given that Premier Draft runs for a few weeks for a new set before Quick Draft starts, I think WOTC should transition Quick Draft away from using bots.

I also have a recommendation for WOTC on how they can improve Quick Draft. Please read the analysis if you want to see all of the details. The bots have really weird preferences when it comes to selecting rares (eg they pass Dreadfeast Demon more than the dual lands, and almost never pass Mirrorhall Mimic). The bots do not always select the "best" card, even within a single color. There are lanes in Quick Draft similar to Premier Draft. With VOW rotating back into Quick Draft this week, I wanted to share an initial analysis that I performed on the publicly available VOW Quick Draft dataset from 17Lands.
